Se Luz Ministries, Inc. is a non-profit organization that was founded by Kali Pliego in 2006 in Guatemala.  After learning how to show God's love to her neighbors through serving them, and discovering a love for the people and culture in Guatemala after two mission trips there, Kali realized the calling that God had placed in her life to reach out to the youth of Guatemala, teaching them to love their neighbors through acts of service.  Since it's inception in 2006, Se Luz has completed 20 projects and has over 50 youth participants, and counting.  Service projects consist of light construction and fix-up/clean-up projects primarily in churches and schools throughout the Western Highlands of Guatemala.  Se Luz youth have built roofs, painted, laid concrete baketball courts and church floors (all concrete is hand-mixed), cleared land for new church construction, put up fencing, among many other projects.  Besides the service aspect of the ministry, the youth also learn about Jesus Christ, "Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very natureof a servant, being made in human likeness.  And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death--even death on a cross!  Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:6-11).
