Maternity Back Brace

Hi. I saw the doctor today, and asked her about the lower back pain I’ve been having. She told me to try a maternity support belt/brace/something.
Have you tried anything like that? Is there a certain type or brand that works for you? Thanks so much.
I had two different kinds. I got one from my OB- just an elastic belt that went under my belly, making a sort of “shelf” for my belly to sit on. I ended up having to go to physical therapy because it didn’t help all that much because I also had problems with my hips. I got one then from the PT that held my hips in place and also supported my belly. It did provide a little help when I was on my feet, but as for the rest of the time, sitting or lying down, I still had pain.
Chiropractics have helped more for both the pelvic/hip pain and the back pain than either of the belts did. Also, the exercises and massage I got from physical therapy helped a lot too.
This is just my experience. I’m sure that belts work for other women because they seem to be big sellers. But for me, I should have saved my money and went straight to PT or the chiropractor. Many chiropractors specialize in pregnant women if this is an option you might consider. Also, I prefer the low impact technique rather than the traditional “cracking”. Low impact uses a combination of pressure points and massage to get your body to correctly re-align itself rather than forcing your body back into position.
